STUAL 2.0 creates sustainable values through connections: physically and emotionally. Physically, the chair is sustainable because of its production: it shifts away from industrial manufacturing towards local craftsmen using regional materials. The joinery of the parts is transferred from traditional into contemporary craftsmanship, the production of the pieces takes advantage of progressive tools. Emotional sustainability originates from the relationship towards an object. It emerges from the chair’s origin– giving the production a face – and a value. The moral behind the chair makes us feel good about having a long-lived item that can be passed on. The artistic expression simplifies the identification with an object through cultural connection.
