semester
This object was designed 1937 by Henry Dreyfuss who was an American industrial designer. The telephone is inspired by the principles of functionality and was produced during the time period of streamline modernism. It was one of the most widely used American combined telephone sets to include the ringer and network circuitry in the same telephone housing. Dreyfuss was reenventing the relationship between people and the products they would use – to make products more user-friendly he encased the mechanical parts inside streamlined, sculpted shells. I studied the shapes, details, perspectives and projections of the telephone and drew them using different pencils and copic markers.
