carafolution – carafes

The task of the project standard was to create an object for a picnic out of semi-finished materials. I made an evolution of 6 slightly different carafes made out of borosilicate glass tubes in cooperation with the glassblower Tommaso Colesanti and Vetro Ricerca. All the handles end at the bottom of the carafes to provide more stability. As the dinner was a social event, I gave one of my carafes a special purpose: As it has handles on two sides it can be passed from one to another without difficulty and complications. You just need to grab the handle that is near to you and take the carafe. This action releases a feeling of connection and inclusion between the partecipants of the dinner. In addition, the idea that every carafe looks slightly different mirrors ourselves. We are all different but we can all do the same just in a different way.
