Shaker – Model making
BA Design Warm-Up – Foundation Course
2023
semester
For the third assignemnts, we were asked to choose an everyday object and reproduce it in 1:1 scale in 3D. We then had to think of three different variations of the latter, and realise them using the same technique.
I made the original model and then came up with four variations. The latter consisted of: a shaker whose lid becomes a glass, a shaker in the shape of a teapot, a shaker in the shape of a matryoshka with steps to improve its grip and a shaker with two hooks on the sides that allow it to be squirted horizontally instead of vertically.
The variation I explored was the first one. I therefore made three different types of tumblers and combinations. The first shaker took the shape of a thermos flask, the second that of a chalice, the third that of a classic interlocking glass.
The last variation, the final one, was made with a glass in mind, which, slightly inclined, fits perfectly into the bottom of the shaker and can then be used to serve the cocktail itself.
