For the final project in the Product Design Course we were put in pairs and assigned a topic – everyday…eating. Through research and reviews with the course and the professor, we decided to design the perfect student lunchbox. After more research, sketching and model making, we then decided on a final model for the perfect student lunchbox.

The final model was inspired by the “gavetta militare”, which is a military lunchbox lastly mass-produced in the 30s. It is designed to be durable, fit the shape of the body perfectly and to be carried around easily. Our proposal has a similar structure as the gavetta, but is designed to be part of the student life. The form fits very well into a backpack or bag. It has 2 subdivisions that fit perfectly into each other and are as space saving as possible while still being able to hold a good amount of food. The lid can hold cutlery and with a pressure closing mechanism going over the lid, the subdivisions get hold together tightly, which makes the lunchbox leakproof and perfect long hours in the backpack.
