My work explores how a person is perceived by their environment.
How one is perceived by others is often not related to what information they have gathered first hand through direct contact. Most times people subconsciously form their opinions (which they then continue to see as facts) based solely on things they have been told and other second hand impressions of a person.
This can make the perceived person feel isolated, uncomfortable and invisible. Because even though they are physically present, it doesn’t matter that they are if they are not heard and listened to. It is almost impossible to overwrite prejudice once it has been formed. One feels trapped while also feeling totally exposed.
