Emma Sicher
Emma Sicher is a biodesigner focusing on growing-design. She is a passionate fermenter and animal rights activist. In 2017 she graduated in Design and Arts with the project ‘From
Peel To Peel’ at the Free University of Bolzano. From 2018 to 2021 she worked as a research assistant on the interdisciplinary follow-up of her thesis called ‘InnoCell’ at the same institution. She investigates the microbial production of cellulose, its processing, and application scenarios. In parallel, she participates in international workshops on Biomimicry and Biodesign, improving her skills and knowledge with an interdisciplinary approach and practice-based experimentation. Currently, she is conducting an investigation in which she applies methods for DIY material development to fermentation practices to generate hybrid scenarios involving food and non-food substances for more sustainable and resilient futures.
