Francesco Mattuzzi

Francesco Mattuzzi (1979) is a visual artist who uses photography and video as tools for research and depiction of contemporary social reality. In 2016 his first feature film "The Weight of Dreams" won the RAI CINEMA prize at the film festival Visioni dal Mondo, presented at the Rome Film Festival and at the IDFA, doc for Sale, in Amsterdam. In the same year, he was selected as a director at the Berlinale Talents. His second film, "Santa" participated in several Pitching Forums, and in 2017 he was awarded funding for development by RAI CINEMA and was a finalist in the prestigious Franco Solinas Screenplay Award. In 2015 he made Eyelid, a work selected at the Trento Film Festival, the CPH: DOX in Copenhagen and the AFFR, Architecture Film Festival of Rotterdam. In 2013 he made two experimental short films: Shapes and Pianeta Bianco, both presented at international film festivals, but also at the 13th Biennale of Architecture in Venice, the Italian Cultural Institute in Moscow, San Francisco, and Istanbul. In 2010 he realized together with the photographer Armin Linke Future Archeology, a work presented at the 67th Venice Film Biennale and in over 30 festivals around the world.
