Giacomo Festi

Giacomo Festi, PhD in Semiotics at the University of Bologna under the supervision of Paolo Fabbri, is currently split between didactic activity (non-tenured teacher in Semiotics at the Politecnico of Milan and at Naba (MI) and Visual Culture at the Free University of Bozen), consultant professional work (mainly desk qualitative research) and semiotic research. His research interests include contemporary mediascape, food communication, audiovisual analysis and the semiotic of cultural practices.
Among his recent publications: “Media reality and reality e effects. A methodological semiotic inquiry”, Versus, 2017, an article analyzing the work of Stefan Sagmeister (E/C, 2019) and another one moving towards a typology of infographics (Signata 2019).
