2021.1

Following the outbreak of the recent pandemic, I decided to educate myself in the science of microbiology. I discovered the incredible world of bacteria, and some of the dangers hidden therein. One such danger is antibiotic resistance, considered an imminent threat, the main cause of which is the abuse of antibiotics. To raise awareness of the invisible world of bacteria and counteract the general distrust that it arouses in people is the purpose of this thesis: to know and promote good behavior, and to change our bad habits. To this end I chose to design a game, an activity that by its nature has the ability to make learning effective, active, and participatory. This is the origin of the card game BIG, Batteri In Gioco. The assortment of cards show in a tangible way the extraordinary bacterial variety of the human microbiota, and the proportional relationships between pathogenic, symbiotic, and commensal bacterias. The game is accompanied by an app, designed for teaching, with which users from 8 to 99 years old, can investigate various scientific content as if they were scientists.
