Borderless

In a society where shared values are very relevant to be accepted, the ones that do not share them equally are often excluded for being different. The “village fool” extravagance, for instance, makes society consider them crazy because their behaviours are not congruous with the common ideology of the society.

“Borderless” presents Bernard, a so considered village fool in Bolzano. The video portrays him in his whole, showing the viewer that he is like any other individual. Nevertheless, the village fool is different because more free than people who decide to follow society’s rules and standards. The village fool is brave of being what they are, not caring about other people’s opinion, not following society’s ideals just for the sake of being part of it.

My project aims to stimulate thoughts about the topic of respect and open-mindedness by creating awareness of the prejudices and superficiality that too often shapes our society, and that impede us from being ourselves.
