2021.1

We, as humans, tend to rationalise and categorise our surroundings. We search for explanations and definitions in order to understand the world we live in. These definitions and categories make it possible for us to interact with other people, to make decisions and to distinguish one thing from another.

For example we define light thanks to the existence of darkness and the same applies for the opposing terms “reality” and “imagination”. We have certain ideas about how we define “real” and “imaginary” and where the limits of these terms lie. These two contradictory definitions are always dependent on each other as they have a polar and complementary relation and therefore mutually determine themselves.

However, not everything can be defined or categorised with our normal and familiar means as there are certain areas in-between definitions. In these in-between spaces there are ambivalent and equivocal circumstances which prevent us from taking a clear position regarding the situation we are in. This leads us to a feeling of uncertainty which makes us question what we are experiencing.

Through the projection of a mysterious dimension, the project “dreamscape” opens up a space of imagination in which we can explore the magical potential of what surrounds us. This space cannot be described in terms of conventional definitions, as it lies in-between our imagination and our reality and therefore encourages us to explore the limits and possibilities of our everyday lives. Boundaries are blurred and ready to be explored in this dream landscape.
