2021.3

This project is based on questions concerning our ways and positions in communication, and therefore engages with an interest in how our dialogues have changed over the course of human existence. By exploring the qualities of wearable sculptures and furthermore, by applying the method of ‘activation’ I created three wearable sculptures which are meant to be interpreted by the visitor. The sculptures function as adapters, which, as body extensions, are intended to break open and question the framework of traditional spatial concepts. The act of activation then shall lead to a new spatial and social experience / understanding. The term ‘dialogue’, in this work, forms the basis for exploring the relationship between space and body. Pieces to connect engages with the momentum created from the exchange between bodies and spaces.

The appearance of these wearable sculptures is created in the form of a corner, which exemplifies the exchanges and encounters the sculptures initiate. In addition, aluminium acts as a material which renders the physical traces visible as well as conducting body heat. Therefore, every impulse, every touch and every movement should be shaped by a high level of consciousness and seen as a homage to the very present — to only reality we have.

So what happens when sculptures become wearable?

What kind of exchanges can corners mediate?

What materials could dialogues use?
