The project ‚Über 2,5m‘ (Above 2,5m) is based on a German regulation for police operations, which is mainly used during the clearing of protests. It states that all protesters who are at a height of more than 2.5m – e.g. during the eviction of activist-occupied property – have to be evicted by specially trained police officers. This policy is an open loophole for protesters and a possible coupling point for architects and designers to support the climate movement with innovative designs for over 2.5m protest structures. In this way, one profession can specifically use its expertise and show solidarity with activists from other groups in order to combine resources and skills in the fight against the climate crisis, particularly as the effects of the climate change can only be tackled in an interdisciplinary way. ‚Über 2,5m‘ aims to catalyze protest by exploring methods of design through instigation, appropriation and self-initiative.
