Exuviae (positive), homemade latex:
96 g corn starch
3 tablespoon of coconut oil
3 glass of water
3 gelatin sheet
3 table spoon of dish-soap
In Keith Sonnier’s works the reference to a tactile experience is very strong. Latex looks like skin, tanned or damaged. This sort of membrane or skin on the wall is slowly and delicately peeled off, as if there was a need for renewal, something that makes one think of a reptile that feels the need to renew itself and make the move. Reptiles are cold-blooded animals, which need to be exposed to thesun for a long time as this guarantees their survival. Heat played a central role in the realization and developmentof the work. This gave rise to an experimentation andinvestigation on different types of surfaces and materials.
