AQUA STONE
MA Practice Based Course
2023
semester
Aqua stone is the result of experiments to obtain a new stone from various natural waste materials.
Takes its name from Aqua Faba, which imitates the functional properties of egg white, the oldest bonding material obtained from the wastewater of leguminous seeds such as chickpeas. Aquafaba is the thick liquid that results from soaking legumes such as chickpeas for a long time. Aqua faba will tend to foam up like a cloud when whipped enough. This material, which is generally waste, was used as a binder in this project. It is formed by mixing marble dust, mycellium and several types of yarn.
We believe in the sense, of, ‘naturing´ as a way of thinking of nature as a co-client of our projects and designs; remembering the interrelationship that we have as beings, and that nature always had.
