Breathe Design – Breathing Pillar
BA Practice Based Course
2020
semester
My project took inspiration from the pillars on the street, which divide the road from the pedestrian areas.
The system is simple but effective: when water flows in the pillar, it wets all the soil inside the central part and if it is too much, it is stored in the space on the bottom of the structure.
When the soil is wet it can water the plants that grow in it and which come out of the little holes all along the transparent tube.
This system can substitute the unused space that these pillars occupy anyways and can also be a way to purify air without the need of further means.
