BÚHO is a photo trap inspired by the shape and characteristics of the owl. It opens at sunset to photograph creatures that live at night and that humans are unable to see. It helps researchers in their studies and research, giving them the chance to see the world through the eyes of an owl. One of the main characteristics of the owl is that it can rotate its head 270°. For this reason, the photo trap has the ability to turn on a 270° axis connected to a motion sensor inside the structure. In addition, the owl has the ability to see at night, which is why the camera is infrared. At the top of the photo trap, there is a sensor that detects movement and transmits it to the camera, which rotates to position itself according to where the movement has been detected. The camera then takes a picture, which is saved on the SD card and sent live to the camera owner’s phone. Like an owl, the photo trap during the day stays closed and camouflages itself in nature, thanks to its pattern and shape predators cannot recognise it. The BÚHO has a hook which allows it to be placed on different types of trees and on branches of different diameters. This hook is intended to represent the owl’s legs hooking onto branches while balancing and observing any creatures from above Additionally, it is a universal type of hook that can be applied anywhere according to the researcher’s needs.
