Design a tree – Eyser
BA Design Warm-Up – Foundation Course
2022
semester
A kickoff discussion revolves around the complexity of all that surrounds us, the interconnectedness of almost everything, using ‘a tree’ and the natural world as an “Nature does not give us, or anyone else, instructions in how things are to be conceptualised.
Once conceptualised, a thing is integrated by us, into a network of ideas, since “no concept or idea ever stands alone.” We conceptualise things personally means of our own ideas and we do this so routinely and automatically that we don’t typically recognise ourselves as engaged in these processes. To the uncritical mind, it is as if things are given to us with their “name” inherent in them.
Is it possible to attribute a function in a way to use spontaneity in a smart system? A security system works based on a securing sensors that communicate with a control panel and disseminate information. Analogy to it all and a source for inspiration, a concrete aid: Eyser. Eyser analyses the height of the plant and their brunching along the ground, indicating in advance the area where pruning is necessary, for instant in a natural park. The sensor is also equips with an anti-smoke sensor to prevent any fire. It works via a small solar panels. A metal rope allow it to stay on a tree to observe specifically what is needed in that area.
The object is located in woods, natural reserves, forest, tourist parks, and placed on the trunk of a tree, able to remain stable and strong in every weather conditions.
The choice of materials is based on a concept of eco-sustainability. A metal coating, accompanied by some parts in recycled plastic.
