Design Classic – Stuhl zur dritten Kunstgewerbeausstellung; Richard Riemerschmid

Richard Riemerschmid designed this chair for machine production, which was a particular novelty at the time. This meant that the chair could be made from different types of wood and with different seat upholstery, depending on the intended use, and it became accessible to a larger section of the population due to the reduction in manufacturing costs. In contrast to established furniture at the time, Riemerschmid shows the construction method openly. This gives the chair a clear, light and simple shape.
