design classics – chinese takeaway box

The earliest version of the chinese takeaway box was patented in November of 1894 by Frederick Weeks. It’s made out of a single piece of paper and then folded into a leak-proof box and secured with a wire handle. The popular red design was added in the 1970s by an unknown source.
