The Eclisse Lamp is one of the world’s most iconic and timeless products of the 20th century and has become over time one of the symbols of Italian design exellence. Designed by Vico Magistretti in 1967 for the Artemide company, the lamp is formed by very simple yet functional geometries. The main structure consists of 3 spherical shapes: base, fixed outer lampshade shell and movable inner lampshade shell. Eclisse is a perfect balance between the principals of form, function, design and utility. The concept derives from the astronomical phenomenon the moon eclipse, which is reflected in Vico Magistretti’s design, not only in the name, but also in the formal and technical characteristics of the lamp itself.
