Enclosure

Three black and white photographs show the enclosed games, due to the pandemic, of a playground in the province of Bergamo.

The work is based on Joanna Piotrowska’s artwork of 2019 “Enclosure XLI” and “Enclosure XLII”, made for the “Tell me about yesterday tomorrow” exhibition at the NS-Dokumentationszentrum of München. In which the photographs of Piotrowska express an impermanence that appeals to our sense of responsibility to other forms of life. They also appeal to a human social identity that has been shaken many times throughout history.
