Font Specimen – Sabella Sans
BA Design Warm-Up – Foundation Course
2022
semester
My sans serif font called “Sabella” is created on the base of the original font “Sabon” I used as reference. It’s a serif font designed by Jan Tschichold in 1967. I mainly cut off the serifs, changed the stroke thickness and I adapted also some letters so that they got unique. For creating it I drew the skeleton of every single letter on Adobe Illustrator and when I had finished all my adjustments on Sabella I put it in Fontself which is a Plugin for Illustrator to match the letters on the keyboard with my letters and adjusted the tracking between the letters. Sabella has a playful, soft character and a clear typeface. It can be used for children books due to its great readability.
