From CAD to reality

Our last assignment of the semester was to build a vase using thin aluminum plates and to draw different ideas with Rhino.

The special feature of the vase should be shapes that you wouldn’t expect when you see only a part of the vase.

First I thought about different shapes and drew them with Rhino. Then I printed out templates and made a prototype to see if the idea could be realized. In the last step I did cut the aluminum vase with scissors, shaped the upper ends slightly outwards and painted the inside blue. My idea behind the notches was to make it easier to arrange a bunch of flowers.
