Home is Sinking

The rat Raffaele and the seagull Ernesto start an unusual friendship because saltmarshes, which used to be their natural habitat, are slowly disappearing due to rising water levels in the lagoon of Venice. Together with the other animals of the lagoon they start a protest to make cruise ships, which are another cause for the the disappearance of their living space, leave again.
The illustration style is a combination of manual colour pencil drawings and digital black and white drawings. This contrast was a conscious design choice with the intention to underline the difference between the vivid animals of the lagoon and the dying environment they are surrounded by.
