Illustration – Bozen’s Industrial Area

The theme of the illustration is the creation of Bozen’s Industrial Area, and is part of a series done on occasion of the “50 Jahre 2. Autonomiestatut” for the book written by Jutta Kustatscher and Wolfgang Mayer and published by Resia.

This illustration has three reading keys: first of all the colour, that show how the greys and blues are more numerous than the yellows and oranges, and seem to be advancing, then the squares, which either have a pattern made of lines (that represent the fields and orchards from a bird’s eye perspective) or of jagged lines (which recall the shape of factories’ roof) and finally the “icons” of people and/or objects  doing different actions. Each icon is like a fragment that when put together tells the story of how the Industrial Zone of Bozen was created and what was sacrificed for it.
