For the 50th anniversary of the second Statute of Autonomy of South Tyrol, we were asked by authors Jutta Kustatscher and Wolfgang Mayer to draw a series of illustrations. I choose to represent Fascism and National Socialism. With this illustration I wanted to show what fascism and nazism represented to the people of South Tyrol. Pictured are Adolf Hitler and Benito Mussolini, the leaders of the two dictatorships, who step over a normal citizen, who tries to escape and take back his fallen hat, a symbol of his identity. This is to show the oppression people had to endure during those dark periods.
