My illustration topic for the autonomy is “representing linguistic affiliation”. I want to show the uncertainty in the choice of linguistic affiliation. I drew a group of people walking in the direction where a road divides into three side streets. These represent the 3 languages, Deutsch, Italiano and Ladin. Some people don’t know where to go, recognizable by the question mark on their bellies, perhaps because they do not speak only one of the languages, and because of that don’t want to choose a specific one, while some already know which road (language) to choose.
