This labyrinth is an exhibition set up in my own house based on the relationship between the perception of space and the narrative sequence. Thanks to speakers positioned on the corners of sound isolation panels and to the absence of visual reference points or lights, the visitor goes through an auditory experience. Each speaker emits a different sound which alludes to a particular object contained in a specific room in my house: the pillow in the bedroom, the boiler in the kitchen, the carpet in the living room and the toothbrush in the bathroom. The sounds’ position is inspired by montage theories and the non-linear sequence of the movie “Memento”, which presents a plot twist explaining the entire story, similar to the central room of the labyrinth where the visitor understands the meaning of the exhibition by looking at the led map on the ceiling. The purpose of my project is to encourage people to perceive and imagine a space through the sequence of sounds they listen to, varying with their movement, like if they were strolling in the “Serial Vision” of Gordon Cullen.
