L’Archivio delle cose perse is a hypothetical archive of the future in which only a few of the many items that will one day no longer exist in our world are collected. Here is what you can read inside this future archive: “As you may remember from natural science lessons, after the Great Summer of 2038 most amphibian and reptilian animal species became extinct, leading to an inexorable collapse of the then known ecosystem. Such drastic eco-environmental changes usually occur gradually and over incredibly long periods of time, whereas human beings have profoundly altered their environment in only a few centuries of history. The change is still taking place today, and although terrestrial life is surprisingly adept at adapting and evolving, the time will come when it will no longer be able to do so.”
