Learning from the street market
BA Visual Communication Project
2021
semester

The excercise “Learning From The Street Market”started with an exploration of the street market of our towns. This specimen finds its roots in a bakery in Latsch. Margit Hell is a shop assistant at the Fuchs bakery in Laces / Latsch – Bolzano / Bozen. Margit is about thirty-five years old and, although she has no artistic training, she writes the prices of the products in the shop by hand. To do this she uses a round-tipped marker, which gives a uniform rounded style to all the writing. The shape of the letters seems to spontaneously – accidentally? – refer to the art nouveau aesthetic as well as to Central European Gothic script.
