Me and me portraying me – early self-portrait (2021 )
Collage with sandpaper, photography, package paper and a pencil. Black pencil and chalk.
I’ve never been good at portraying myself.
Not even at thinking about myself.
I barely have pictures of me. Only blurred ones where I’m partly cut out or make funny faces.
Am I afraid of taking my appearance seriously? Of hurting myself with my insecurities?
I do have one “serious” photo of myself I took with an optic bench. Don’t get me wrong, this is not a glorious story of how I overcame my insecurities. In fact, I ripped my face off ‘cause it made me feel uneasy and replaced it with sandpaper.
That definitely tells more about me than the actual intact picture.
