MOSAICO

Mosaico is a construction technique that considers the natural properties of Larice wood. Larice is a natural water resistant wood and I wanted to use this amazing property of this specific wood. My purpose was to create something that could be applied not just to one product, but that could be versatile. I decided to create something that could remind of a textile. Mosaico is a canvas composed by 313 wooden pieces, each laser cut and then sewed by hand. It can be constructed using more or less pieces, and creating a bigger or smaller canvas. Each piece is joined following a scheme that reminds of fishes scales, to let water flow down the textile, and take advantage of the its water resistant property.
