This telephone installation invites curious pedestrians in the neighborhood to notterna in an unconventional way. Notterna is a two-hour night walk in Don Bosco that leads you through seven different stations with multimedia artworks by members of the Südtiroler Künstlerbund (SKB) and art students of the University of Bolzano.

The installation’s aim is to make the neighborhood interested in notterna, invite them to the evening, and to raise awareness of art as an important cultural asset. The ringing tone indicates the pedestrian to pick up the phone. The listener is directly addressed by the voice and invited to the evening, the feeling of a personal invitation is thus conveyed. The installation was additionally the starting and gathering point for the event, establishing an initial social meeting point.

The telephone installation has been placed in different squares. The densely populated Don Bosco neighborhood was intentionally chosen as the exhibition site, as this part of the city is often culturally and socially neglected.

The installation is the final result of a long research and participative development process, with the artists and the SKB.
