Opa, l’avresti mai detto? (Reappropriation of my grandfather’s armchair) (2021-2022); single photographic print; 198,54 x 133,35 cm

When feeling like there is no right place left in the world, one way to cope is to go back to the roots; understanding where one comes from in order to then being able to move forward. Going back to the roots does not always lead to positive outcomes though, it is quite often the opposite. Still, things change quickly and will rarely be as remembered or as desired. The beloved armchair of a recently lost grandfather, for example, may have remained in his now sold apartment. It may no longer belong to his family but rather to strangers who now live in the very place he lived in for years. Rotten roots in this case, then. But the roots may be rescued, nourished, revived, perhaps that armchair is not lost permanently. The roots could be reborn, even if only for a few hours.
