P.I.C. N.I.C. – Robots

The Whirlpool company has come a long way since its founding in 1911 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. And an example of its progress is the “macrowave” microwave-design invitational competition, the results of which were shown at the 2000 Triennale in Milan, Italy. The imperative given to eight European designers was to design a microwave oven whose manner of operation should be self-explanatory. “P.I.C. N.I.C” is one of the results produced by the italian designer Riccardo Giovanetti. It’s a conceptual design of a portable cordless microwave that also serves the function of a picnic basket.

L’azienda Whirlpool ha fatto molta strada dalla sua fondazione nel 1911 a Benton Harbor, Michigan. Un esempio dei suoi progressi è il concorso ad inviti per la progettazione di microonde “macrowave”, i cui risultati sono stati presentati alla Triennale di Milano del 2000. L’imperativo dato a otto progettisti europei era quello di progettare un forno a microonde il cui modo di funzionamento dovesse essere autoesplicativo. “P.I.C. N.I.C” è uno dei risultati prodotti dal designer italiano Riccardo Giovanetti. Si tratta di un progetto concettuale di un microonde portatile senza fili che ha anche la funzione di cestino da picnic.
