Rimowa Suitcase
BA Design Warm-Up – Foundation Course
2022
semester
The first Rimowa model was designed in 1937. The Rimowa cabin is known to be the very first aluminum suitcase ever created. Its main characteristic is the benefit of the union of a reduced weight and of a long duration. It was in 1950 when the typic groove design, inspired by the first aircraft entirely made of metal, had been integrated to its original model. This piece of design is still an icon to our days even if the model has changed into other versatile forms. The most popular, integrated in 2000, is made of polycarbonate, which ensure strength, lightness and resistance.
