The collective: Searching for “Humans”, real ones only
Presents: Raw Exposition

What does it mean to be a human in todays society? How has the relation of human bis human changed over time? I’ve always been convinced that an artists work comes to-be as a self-portrait of experiences, how could my work and those of others interact and interlace together? Can it even be done? To collectively work together on the creation of a work? Can we avoid hierarchies and power relations? Can I avoid my own nature to lead and actively engage with other humans all at the same level?

Following my last work “The Essence of the Self” where I searched for my essence from an individual and inner research. This time I dig deeper into the relation created with my collective partners to form a deeper understanding of the self and the other from a collective and outer type of research. One cannot understand oneself without putting oneself in confrontation with the other for we are all a mirage of that Other.

Without them there would be no need and no way to define what makes me a human, or define them for that matter.

During the time we have worked together as a collective we have delved into different praxis through out the process of creation; creation of the work, but also the creation of our interactions with each other, the dynamics of a diverse group, all coming from different backgrounds and different ideals. Constantly struggling with our own humanity, and its raw exposition. In itself, the process has been violent and full of confrontations, it has also been intense and rewarding.

The media we delved into where those of performance, theatre, poetry, music, monologues, writing, improvisation, experimentation and discourses. These are all very much present and engaged in our final work together. Constructing and de-constructing our relation and our essence we present a multi- layered improvisational theatre performance in which we believe the construction of all the above mentioned challenges are put into action.

We invite the audience to immerse and engage itself with all its senses into our presentation. We spend most of our life trying to figure out “how to do human” The constant why’s? How’s? When’s? Where’s? And more why’s? They hunt us. We are baffled with our own existence. We cannot seem to truly accept, move on and just BE.

We cannot let go of the idea of not knowing.
 Its a beautiful human characteristic.
