Empowering Children in Turkey‘s Earthquake Zone through Shadow Play

The project focuses on designing and implementing a shadow play initiative to meet the play needs of children in Turkey‘s earthquake zone, promoting their social, emotional, and cognitive development. The project recognizes the significant impact of play and the psychological benefits it can provide for children affected by earthquakes. By creating opportunities for play and social interaction, it aims to restore a sense of normalcy, promote emotional well-being, and facilitate the healing process.

The project involves developing a variety of shadow play activities and workshops that encourage children to express themselves, engage in imaginative play, and build connections with their peers. These activities will be conducted in the form of interactive performances, storytelling, and collaborative play sessions, providing children with a safe and empowering platform to explore their emotions and experiences.

The upper part of the box I designed in the shadow game can be placed in the holes at the bottom and can be removed, so they can build it during the game and then place it in the bottom box. The extra materials and figures I give in the box provide inspiration for children. Thus, they can find other materials around and create their own scenes behind.
