Summit is a heavy font that is characterized by a high contrast and compactness. The same recalls my childhood: I was born and I have grown in the mountains.
Summit comes from Claredon. Claredon is the name of a typeface that was released in 1845 by Thorowgood and Co. The credits for the original design go to Robert Besley.
The typeface was very successful. Very soon it became an entire genre of type design. It was mainly used for display applications.
