Assignment: You feel, see and think like your super hero.

I researched the habits and the language of the artist Lawrence Weiner. His primary medium is language but he regards his words and phrases as sculptures and the elements described as his materials. Written on museum walls as well as outdoors for every passerby to see he considers the viewer’s interaction with a piece crucial to its existence and its interpretation.

In 1968, Weiner wrote his declaration of intent:
The artist may construct the piece.
The piece may be fabricated.
The piece need not be built.
Each being equal and consistent with the intent of the artist

Weiner grew up in the Bronx in the 1940s and ’50s which led him to see art not only in galleries but on the walls of the city.

In my work “through the eyes of Lawrence Weiner”, I therefore decided to photograph ripped-off billboards in Via Vittorio Lancia and Via G. Galilei in the Italian city of Bolzano. Commercial left-overs that I myself admire as art. I assembled the photos in a booklet and extended what I perceived from them with words and phrases.
