“The Digital Design Museum”
–
Our digital artefact “embeds” the biography, work, and study-related information of “Her-stories – The Women of the Digital Design History” into the broader context of a digital design museum mobile app. What we attempted to achieve was to develop a coherent system which would offer users different modes of interaction with the content in order to provide a clear, simple and playful experience with the goal of gaining knowledge about her-stories / women in the digital design history through associative, interconnected learning.
–
The artefact is structured along the metaphor of a real museum, a place where curated topics and sequences of rooms make up different exhibitions within different “pavilions”. The user is invited to stroll through the artefact browsing indexes along topics and fields which will lead him to short informative articles about the women in digital design as well as related topics.
–
In addition, the artefact also offers an educational game mode, which uses the same content articles but challenges the user to find a target information using association. The artefact’s main pivoting point is the use of hyperlinks which interconnects various pieces of content through highlighted keywords (names, locations, dates). The user can then either go through pre-curated sequences of topics to learn more, or jump through topics using these direct links.
