The Lunch Box

“The Lunch Box” è un’applicazione per smartphone sviluppata attorno al concetto di condivisione. Si tratta di un’applicazione basata sul tempo, in cui alle persone viene offerta la possibilità di trascorrere le loro pause pranzo in compagnia di altri utenti che desiderano occupare il loro tempo libero in modo alternativo e originale. “The Lunch Box” è stata studiata per essere utilizzata da due categorie di personas: dai cittadini di Bolzano e da tutte le persone che sono considerare city users, ossia chi va regolarmente in una città, in cui non è residente, per lavoro, per usufruire di servizi, per fare acquisti e per altre attività che coinvolgono la città in cui non si è residenti. Per rendere “The Lunch Box” non solo un’applicazione volta a incontrare nuove persone, ma anche una piattaforma su cui poter raccogliere una serie di ricordi, è stata creata una sezione dedicata alla funzione di “collective time capsule”. Tale sezione può essere definita la più importante dell’applicazione, in quanto rende anche la parte digitale dell’esperienza interattiva e coinvolgente. Le persone saranno spinte a rispondere alle semplici e veloci domande offerte dal sondaggio, per scoprire quale icona di “The Lunch Box” descrive la loro esperienza in modo migliore. Attraverso alle grafiche personalizzate, ciascun utente avrà la possibilità di trovare altri iscritti che attraverso il sondaggio sono risultati a loro affini.
“The Lunch Box” prevede poche e semplici funzioni: “Pack a Lunch Box”, “Join a Lunch Box” e “Storage”, affiancate dalla pagina iniziale, il centro notifiche e il profilo.
Ciascuna persona iscritta alla piattaforma ha la possibilità di organizzare un numero illimitato di eventi attraverso la funzione “Pack a Lunch Box”, a cui altri utenti potranno partecipare. Per ciascun incontro che si organizza è necessario e importante definire un tema, da cui poi si inizierà a sviluppare la conversazione, così da rendere l’incontro tra sconosciuti più semplice e coinvolgente, eliminando l’imbarazzo e la tensione. Dopo aver stabilito l’argomento dell’evento, segue la decisione dei dettagli pratici: orario, durata dell’incontro, giorno, luogo, tipologia di cibo prediletta dall’organizzatore e la lingua che si parlerà durante l’incontro. Tutti questi particolari saranno scelti esclusivamente dall’organizzatore di ciascun evento e gli altri utenti, attraverso la funzione “Join a Lunch Box”, avranno la possibilità di cercare l’evento più adatto alle loro esigenze. Infine, la funzione “Storage” è la sezione in cui vengono collezionate tutte le esperienze a cui ciascun utente ha partecipato, per poter avere un ricordo sia personale che collettivo di ciascun incontro.

“The Lunch Box” is a smartphone application developed around the concept of sharing. It is a time-based application in which people are offered the opportunity to spend their lunch breaks in the company of other users who wish to occupy their free time in an alternative and original way. “The Lunch Box” has been designed to be used by two categories of personas: by the citizens of Bozen/Bolzano and by all people who are considered city users, i.e. those who regularly go to a city, in which they are not resident, for work, to use services, to go shopping and for other activities. In order to make ‘The Lunch Box’ not only an application to meet new people, but also a platform on which to collect a series of memories, a section dedicated to the ‘collective time capsule’ function was created. This section can be called the most important of the application, as it also makes the digital part of the experience interactive and engaging. People will be prompted to answer quick and easy survey questions to find out which icon of ‘The Lunch Box’ best describes their experience. Through the customised graphics, each user will have the opportunity to find other subscribers who were similar to them through the survey.
“The Lunch Box” includes a few simple functions: “Pack a Lunch Box”, “Join a Lunch Box” and “Storage”, flanked by the home page, the notification centre and the profile.
Each person registered on the platform has the possibility of organising an unlimited number of events through the ‘Pack a Lunch Box’ function, in which other users can participate. For each meeting that is organised, it is necessary and important to define a topic, from which the conversation will then begin to develop, so as to make the meeting between strangers easier and more engaging, eliminating embarrassment and tension. After establishing the topic of the event, the practical details follow: time, duration of the meeting, day, place, the organiser’s preferred type of food, and the language that will be spoken during the meeting. All these details will be chosen exclusively by the organiser of each event, and other users, through the ‘Join a Lunch Box’ function, will be able to search for the event best suited to their needs. Finally, the “Storage” function is the section in which all the experiences in which each user has participated are collected, in order to have both a personal and collective memory of each meeting.
