The Universal Violation of Human Rights
BA Visual Communication Project
2023
semester
From the input word “Rights”, this editorial project is a collection of the 30 articles from The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which was written by the United Nations in 1948 after the Second World War.
An “inverted” Declaration has been developed, the articles were written in the opposite meaning as the original; for example: “Everyone has the right to life” has been changed to “Nobody has the right to life”.
Texts from educational papers and essays, together with photos and illustrations are used to show the violations. A filter is applied on the images, it reminds of the prints on money, referring to the fact that many of these violations a rooted in financial reasons.
The project aims to show how the 30 articles collected in this document are still violated by many states today, for this reason it is called The Universal Violation of Human Rights.
