Tourist App Merano

The application focuses on Merano, a city known for its thermal baths, its history, its Art Nouveau buildings but above all for being a bilingual and multicultural city. What few people know is that it was also an imperial city. The members of the family often visit the city to take care of themselves, especially Princess Elizabeth of Austria, better known as Sissi.
Many do not know that her traces are still present in the city and that they can only be rediscovered with a thorough search. In fact, the concept is based on the tracks of the princess, and in addition to keeping the three main tasks, you can relive imperial experiences or have more information, truthful, about the princess using the app.

The name of the application is simply “Merano” and also the logo is the same. But why? The CI of Merano is strong and recognizable, so I thought it would be better for the application, as I assumed that it was directly designed by the municipality. I also decided to add a floral-natural touch to represent the best of my concept and the princess, in a subtle and balanced way of course.

Storytelling:

Subject: The subject of interest in my application is the city of Merano. But I would like to add a second level by adding some
information about the princess Sissi in regard to the town.

Goal: I want that the tourist and the locals could relive, through part of the application path, and places the life of “Princess Sissi” during the time in the city of Merano. For example by eating where she had eaten or to walk the same step as her.

Audience: The target of my application are locals and tourist of every age that want to discover the city through places, experience and more to take a walk to take pictures or just to eat something good and to see something, also from another viewpoint.

Before: A person, a tourist or a local wants to enjoy a holiday or a couple of days off from everyday stressful life and would like to relax, maybe taking a thermal bath, taking a walk or maybe visiting some museum or place of culture in general.

Set the scene: There are offers on hotels and experiences in Merano, it looks like a perfect city, there are thermal baths, many museums, places of culture and many places to discover and explore. It is perfect for families, alone or in the company of someone special. It is a multicultural city with a mainly German/art nouveau style construction built-in 1800.

My point: Merano is not only a multicultural city but also a spa town, a city full of history and one of the most important imperial cities of the former southern empire, in fact, many members of the nobility have come to Merano to cure, relax or spend time with their families, including Princess Elizabeth of Austria, better known as Sissi. In this place with its magnificent landscapes, you can observe the places where she stayed, relive her experiences, walk where she walked, and eat the same meals as the empress.

Conclusion: At the conclusion of our vacation we will be more relaxed, surely, thanks to the experiences that the city offers, and reluctantly you will be ready to return to your daily life.

After: Merano is a city that must be discovered time after time, the fact that even behind its walls there is a hidden imperial history, leaves visitors amazed, since it is a very small town, and nostalgic for the relaxing and heart-warming experiences that have been able to live in that weekend or week spent discovering the city also following, in part, the footsteps of a member of the southern royal family, finding the desire to return or, even better, to stay.
