unobserved
BA Visual Communication Project
2019
semester
Not everything that we perceive as correct is truly correct. Sometimes the correct image that we have in our mind is just an illusion playing with our ability to judge.
Many things pass us by being unobserved and change or influence our view on certain topics. There are secret sides that are kept hidden from the public, or aspects that are simply not in the centre of attention and therefore remain a secret to those who do not look carefully. Sometimes we do not even see what’s right in front of us because we are blinded by the perfect image we wish to see.
In our daily lives we are often faced with illusions. Not only when we are tricked by advertising, but also when politicians make promises, for example, or when we ourselves mislead others with our self-representation. Not everything is as it seems.
In order to get people to question their opinions about correct and incorrect, the project “unobserved” plays with a sequence of ambiguous expressions which, depending on the context in which they are seen, change their meaning and create or unveil an illusion.
