Design a tree – Urban solar filter
BA Design Warm-Up – Foundation Course
2022
semester
ISSUE:
increasing temeratures in city centres
CAUSES:
-Black asphalt roads get hotter and hotter when exposed to direct sunlight, they produce toxic substances that harm peoples’ health
-the air conditioning systems produce fresh air indoors, releasing hot air outside
-pollution (factories, dense traffic..)
-global warming
ALREADY EXISTENT SOLUTIONS:
-painting black asphalt white to reflect the sunlight
-increasing the green areas in cities (planting trees, building parks..)
-building structures that make shadow (bar umbrellas, roofs, canopies..)
OUR SOLUTION:
Taking Inspiration from the world of nature, Sofia and I have invented an urban net that acts as a solar filter.
Our Filter will protect people from direct sunlight and high temperatures, like trees do in the woods. They will also beautify cities through beautiful sun reflections and shadows.
MATERIAL:
Nylon wires derived from abandoned fishing nets, sewed together to form a versatile net surface:
-Hiperbolic Shape
-Resistent Waterproof wires
-Unfixed, loose wires as pattern
