*Von Hadern und Lumpen* is a DIY explorative project on the possibilities of making paper from textile waste (=Hadern/Lumpen). Paper making from old textiles has a long tradition in europe and was common until the middle of the 19th century. Only after that new ways of making paper from wood-cellulose have been explored due to a crisis of availability of textile waste. Paper from textile waste requires natural textiles (cotton, flax, hemp, seasal) and need to be transformed in a process of boiling, cutting and washing before the paper can be scooped in a classic way. The material is interesting from a DIY perspective as it is very easy to find textile waste and paper is a much-needed material anybody can make use of. Dependig on the color and qualities of the raw material the paper will take on some of these qualities and therefore DIYers can choose the color and type of structure they want to have in the paper. From the perspective of a circular economy it could be an interesting process for textile producers and a way to deal with their leftover textiles. The paper could be used for packaging or for communication materials. Enjoy the recipe!
