weBar – experience virtual bars with an interactive coaster

When: At the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic crisis, people started doing aperitivo it in the most know video call platforms.
Why: We want to design new online social activity very similar to the one in bars, to overcome the distance between people when this is not normally possible.
What: During this period we designed the App weBar, which is basically a virtual bar and that means the users will share the same environment and experience. Together with the app, we created an interactive coaster to enhance the social experience, enabling you to cheer and play games.
Where: During this time our working places, were equal to our homes. We had online chats, while one of us was in Bolzano and the other one in Venice. The design and creation process was developed entirely inside our private bedrooms.
How: The prototype is made out of 3d printed components, painted to have an aluminum look. The electronics were assembled thanks to an Arduino board. The external cover is made out of homemade bio-silicone, injected into a 3d printed mold.
